The proposal is an objection to the continuing entegrist attitude-action which is mostly validated on mosque design and kept popular in media of Turkey.
Competition site is between Halide Edip Adıvar street and Piyale Paşa boulevard. One of the main ideas of the design is to produce a well integrated structure with its surrounding and the nearby dwellers, where additional functions to the mosque can take place.
The idea of courtyard which organizes the fuctional units sourrounding it, is an important generator in the design process.Stairs between the courtyard and Halide Edip Adıvar street provides a smooth urban connection. The passive landscape between competition site and Piyale Paşa boulevard is planned to become a part of the urban space with its interaction with the courtyard.
The gathering space designed at Halide Edip Adıvar street level (0.00) provides a direct acsess to the narthex and the main space of the mosque with no visual interrruption. At this level also, the main worship space is planned where the womens area is at mezzanine. Service units ,the remaining parts of the complex are designed at -3.50 level around the courtyard. Car access to the site is provided from Bahçecik Street.
